Maisie

Meet the Magical and Mighty Maisie

I am delighted to share with you our latest Ray of Hope Portraits session, featuring 3-year-old Maisie. Maisie has been fighting acute lymphoblastic leukemia for over two years, but this little sweetie was all spunk, smiles, and silliness for this sparkly butterfly flower garden session.

Maisie started the morning with some pampering from the ultra-talented hair and makeup duo, Katie Cusick and Tarah Cahalan.

Once she was all glammed up from flower crown to glitter shoes, Maisie seemed completely at home with the sets and props, showing off her beautiful, sparkly gown and shoes, using her wand to point to the butterflies and balloons, and enjoying the gorgeous bouquets of flowers.

Maisie was as sweet as could be as she twirled and posed in her butterfly wings.

This butterfly princess captivated all of our hearts as she posed and played with the sets.

One of the most beautiful parts about the day was seeing the joy, gratitude, love, and admiration from Maisie’s mom and dad. These proud parents were able to soak up time as a family, celebrating how far they’ve come- what a gift to be a part of that celebration!

After a quick hair and wardrobe change, Maisie and all her sparkle were back for a few shots with some glitter balloons and in front of (and behind!) our inspirational words banner. She loved making everyone behind the camera laugh as she tossed balloons and played a little peekaboo behind the banner.

We are so thankful we got to meet the mighty and magical Maisie and her brave and strong parents. If you are interested in following Maisie’s fight against cancer, you can follow her Facebook page here.

Special thanks to…

We have so many hardworking, joyful, kind, and generous people to thank: Melissa Andrew, Kelly Bates, Tarah Cahalan, Sarah Christian, Alissa Cole, Katie Cusick, Nancy Finsaas, Allison Foxworthy, Jamie Gallagher, Kristina Gershom, Bailee Low, and Megan Simnitt.

So much of the magic that happens in front of the camera is because of the work, talent, kindness, and joy of these incredible volunteers. From quick problem-solving with the sets or props, to pampering Maisie with a glam session, to interacting with Maisie and her family with joy, kindness, and laughter, I am so grateful for such gifted volunteers who make these sessions such a success.
