Jordan and Sophia

Stronger Together - Jordan and Sophia

We had the privilege of putting together a very special mother-daughter Ray of Hope Portraits session for these beautiful and brave ladies - mom Jordan and her daughter Sophia. They both have endured their own cancer diagnoses in the past couple of years, and along with their family, have supported each other with strength, courage, and resiliency.

They were not originally on our schedule, but when the unexpected opportunity came up to do a session for them, we put out the call for additional funds, and our ROHP community went above and beyond to bless this family with a special mother-daughter session.

While we couldn't give back what cancer has taken from them, we were thrilled to offer them a session intended to celebrate what they've overcome, the love they have for each other, and how beautifully strong they are today.

Their session took place in the gorgeous Great Room Studios in Salem. We started our time together with an hour of glam from the talented Katie Cusick and Jorden Cage.

When the duo finished their hair and makeup, they slipped on matching pajamas and were brought to the set for a slumber party with sparkling drinks, board games, and some pampering face and nail treatments.

The strong bond these two have for each other was so obvious and beautiful to witness.

Next they put on their custom “Stronger Together” sweatshirts, created and donated by the faithful and generous Jessica from Hood and Pine Boutique.

After we finished with the first set, they were sent back to the dressing room to change into the most gorgeous matching mother/daughter dresses. They took our breath away when they came back into the room.

The yellow and pink balloon heart symbolizes each of the cancers they have so bravely faced. These are hands-down some of our favorite pictures from the session.

The sweetest tea party followed, with the most delicious and beautiful treats, donated from two of our favorite local bakers - macarons from Shelly at Frosted Sugar Bake Shop and sugar cookies from Rachel at The Rolling Pin. These two ladies went above and beyond to create the most exquisitely beautiful (and delicious!) cookies for Sophia and Jordan. We are still swooning over them.

After touching up each other's lip gloss, Jordan and Sophia stepped in front of our Inspirational Words backdrop as we celebrated them and concluded the session. We ended by praying over these women. This is such an honor and will forever be a favorite part of the session.

Special thanks to…

Sarah Christian went above and beyond in planning and executing the theme and vision for this session and created so many of the special props we used.

A very big thank you to Jorden Cage, Sarah Christian, Katie Cusick, Nancy Finsaas, Kathi Hammer, Liz Long, Alisa Meadows, Laura Rojas, Megan Simnitt, and Carol Thompson for all the behind-the-scenes work you did before, during, and after the session. We couldn’t do this without you!
